My baby sister got married....

To her lovely Prince Charming.

So the real life Lisa Simpson married Dane Donaldson in early October and we have now just got our hot little hands on her amazing photos.

I did a post late last year on the amazing photo journalistic work by Jeremy Beasley and Lisa and Dane were lucky enough to secure him to take their wedding photos.

They have been given just over 500 of them and they really do capture the magic of their special day - his website will give you a real insight to her day and to the way that he takes his amazing images!!

Enjoy these couple - PS - Im the one in the green!!

Warming Fires

Well there is no snow (forcast for tonight in my village) in my sight but again today is hovering around 3 degrees and we are gearing up for -6 tonight!

Snow coulds are enveloping us like a big doona - albeit dark and moody!

Small gusts of sleat are moving through town!

The wind is bitterly cold - enough to make everyone scurry from car to post office and back again!

I thought these might make me feel warmer!! And I think it worked!

The Snow Is On Its Way!!

The last couple of days here have been FREEZING!!!

We are expected to get snow here tomorrow which will be ever so exciting if it actually happens.

Last year I desperately wanted snow in town and it didn't eventuate (except for a very light fall) and I was so depressed.

So - I hope that in the morning I can post of photo of village snow!!

Found Some Land......

But it may as well be for sale for $1million - we just can't afford to purchase right now!

My White Homestead is a five year plan - Five Years to Save for the Land - Five Years to Plant Trees and Plan Gardens - Five Years to have the Homestead Built!!

Oh....but a girl can dream - it is just outside our little village and has direct views of the snow capped mountains!!

You simply can't live in the Snowy Mountains without seeing the snowy splendour!

Life in the Snowies during Winter....

Is Busy. Cold. Energising. Vibrant. White.

2011 saw my first Snowy Mountains season as a new resident to the area.

I had hoped for snow in our town during winter but alas only saw a few minutes of snow on two days which was most disappointing.

This season started our terribly with many of the businesses relying on the trade brought on by the snow putting staff off by early July, but on one very chilly winters day, the mountains got a massive dump and I pursuaded husband to "take me up the mountain".

Here are a few photos of that day trip - albeit quick and cold - I tried to capture the blizzard like conditions up at Perisher and Thredbo.

The weather of the last week has seen me dive back into my cupboard and grab out a few winter woolies as well as lighting our fire and it feels just like winter again.

Where to Build?

The town in which I live is surrounded on four sides with four unique landscapes and when wondering where to build MY WHITE HOMESTEAD I really am quite perplexed as where she should go.

I love the high country and am drawn closer to the Avonside area each time I drive past but during the winter ski season I can see potential problems getting onto the highway and back into town - no matter what time of day.

Whilst a drawback, the country here is amazing and at the moment very green with lush paddocks for sheep and cattle to graze.

I also am in love with the vista's and boulders that are along the road to the beautiful village of Dalgety - the land is high enough to see snow fall and provides a blank canvas for me to start imagining my little peace of heaven.

The land here is drier than that of Avonside and water could be a problem - but I can also see my home and garden being a green oasis for family and friends to enjoy!

The dream seems more alive in this direction than any other.

I can see myself scouring the land for For Sale signs and berating local real estate agents to find me somewhere I can call home for quite a time to come!

The Snowy Mountains are beautiful and I am so happy that it will place host to my planning, building and living in MY WHITE HOMESTEAD!!
