Clearance sale delights

Oh dear - I went a little nuts at a local clearance sale over the weekend!!

Severn Park is a well known RAM breeding farm and they decided to sell up alot of their belongings from their parents homestead - there were ALOT of antiques going way too cheap - it was Annie heaven.

So I came home to Husband with a solid silver cloche, two porcelin antique serving dishes, a coach lamp (very bad condition but no one wanted it so I gave it a home!) and the most amazing photo of a 20 stand shearing shed in action circa the turn on the century!

My cloche will look this good once cleaned up (this is the same model circa 1896)

Blog on the Blink

My blog is sick :(

I just want everyone to know that I am reading your comments BUT for some reason I can not comment back to you :( which is incredibly frustrating.

Apparently it is happening a bit in eblogger which is not great for those of us who love to blog each day.

So - I am reading your lovely comments and hopefully in a few days it will be fixed :) well I hope anyway....

Tree Nursery

My mum, who lives next door to the post office, owns a HUGE back block that is hardly ever visited except for the odd mowing job or bonfire!

Whilst the block has no water it is flat and would suit my needs to create a tree nursery - this way when we build our homestead we will have established trees ready for planting when the block is bought!

So today I have been looking at wholesale plant farms and have some up with one that will suit our needs and they are delivering to the Snowy Moutains in July!! WOOHOO

I'm just about to order 20 x 1.5m silver birch!! At only $11 each thats so cheap!!

Now I just have to convince Husband to dig the holes - square of course!!

Its a Wintery Wednesday!

Brrrrrr - my poor postie - she would sure be feeling the cold today!!

Its a brisk 4 degrees outside but feels more like -4!

I really feel for our postie on days like today, rain coming in sporadically, wind that could knock her off the bike in one gust and a bitterly cold breeze brushing over her fingers!

It's on days like today that we really appreciate the hard yards that she does for us and our village!

My wonderful weekend

There are some truly amazing old homesteads on the Monaro and on the Snowy Mountains and over the weekend I was lucky enough to visit two.

Kiah Lake & Kiah Lodge.

The gardens are stunning, the homes breathtaking and the history of them so romantic.

Imagine eating breakfast with this view every day!

Kiah Lodge built cira 1850 & has been beautifully renovated over the last 25 years!

Winter = Dinner Party!

Why is it that when the seasons change I have the need to get everyone together and host dinner parties??

I seriously have no spare time in my life and am constantly fitting in so much stuff that I am amazed I get my 8hrs+ a night sleep!!

So I found this photo today and I am feelin very inspired to host a proper "winter wonderland" dinner party with no more than 8 but knowing me it will turn into a dinner for 20!

I can see us all infront of the fire, drinking gallons of good wine, feasting on yummy food and then all whinging about the amout of fine things we have just consumed!

Lets just say - I love a GOOD dinner party!!

Paul Bangay - Garden Genius!

Love Him - Love His Garden(s) - Love His Books

Anyone that loves to garden will no doubt share my love of Mr Bangay!

His garden designs are to die for and are we are lucky enough to have his inspiring designs published in  5 books (which I might add are getting very hard to get copies of!)

His new home "Stonefields" along with former home St Ambrose Farm are gardening heaven for those that aspire to have the granduer of beautifully created spaces.

I have a friend in town (AnneMarie) who is desperate to have Paul come and assist her in her garden (which is divine) so hopefully one day I will get to ask him what inspires him to create magical outdoor spaces.

Warming Fires

Well there is no snow (forcast for tonight in my village) in my sight but again today is hovering around 3 degrees and we are gearing up for -6 tonight!

Snow coulds are enveloping us like a big doona - albeit dark and moody!

Small gusts of sleat are moving through town!

The wind is bitterly cold - enough to make everyone scurry from car to post office and back again!

I thought these might make me feel warmer!! And I think it worked!

The Snow Is On Its Way!!

The last couple of days here have been FREEZING!!!

We are expected to get snow here tomorrow which will be ever so exciting if it actually happens.

Last year I desperately wanted snow in town and it didn't eventuate (except for a very light fall) and I was so depressed.

So - I hope that in the morning I can post of photo of village snow!!

Linen Cushion Covers

With the changing of our bedroom colours - I have been on the hunt for gorgeous linen cushion covers to pop on the bed.

I've also been scouring fabric shops here in town and online and just came across these guys that are based in Brisbane.

Thea and Sami design and hand-print natural and organic fabrics for home and body and they use water-based and non-toxic inks.

They also create limited-edition range of house-wares and accessories and can help with custom-made soft furnishings using our fabrics and local resources.

So I have picked two designs for cushions and I'm going to order them today.

Falling Leaves

My little town is really putting on its Autumn Show at the moment.

Leaves line the streets and footpaths, they are flying through the air with the greatest of ease.

The highway through town is a bright and welcoming yellow - the poplars are putting on their show.

I love this time of year here - they should create a festival for it - so others can come and enjoy!
